Definition
When an employer registers for payroll tax they are allocated a unique customer reference number known as a Customer Number. It is sometimes referred to as a Customer Identification number, Our Reference or Customer ID. This number will appear on all correspondence from the State Revenue Office (SRO) and for security purposes customers will be required to quote this number in all dealings with the SRO. When contacting the SRO by phone, additional information confirming the bona fides of the caller may also be required.
